The Carpenter Farms Facility

The Carpenter Farms Facility

Our farm sits on nearly 100 acres about five miles west of downtown Tuscaloosa, Ala. and two miles from I-20/59 with access to about 300 acres of other Carpenter-owned and controlled land nearby. Carpenter farms uses segregated pastures and two large barns that are convertible from 19-32 stalls depending on configuration.

Barns have excellent ventilation, air-conditioned office, bathroom and tack rooms. Well-groomed and maintained riding arena, round pen, hot-walker exerciser and patience poles sit on beautifully landscaped pastoral grounds near the main house. We maintain an extensive obstacle course and plenty of trail system for training and riding enjoyment.

Main Barn - Carpenter Farms

The Main Barn
Equipped to function with variations of seven to 11 stalls, the Main Barn at Carpenter Farms is the centerpiece of the facility. It includes a large outside wash and tack porch, air-conditioned tack room, lounge, office and bathroom, cooking porch feed room and bathroom with shower. This large raised center aisle barn is everything a working barn should be, plus a great location for meetings, starting group rides, even hosting a cookout, cocktail party or other event.

Shed Row Carpenter Farms

The Shed Row Barn
Our shed row barn is home to the mare and foal operation. It has 10-20 12’x12’ and 12’x24’ convertible stalls, a large air-conditioned tack room, mare care center and wash and farrier rack along with equipment storage.

Arena at Carpenter Farms

CF Arena
Whether training a cow horse, barrel horse or getting after it with some cowboy games, equipped with the best available training equipment, our 125’x250’ arena is the hub of riding fun and training at the farm.

Round Pen at Carpenter Farms

Round Pen
Whether teaching ground manners, starting a two-year-old, bringing a lightly experienced horse into the system or even sorting and penning our 60’ round pen is where the work begins. With a direct connection to the CF Arena, the round pen is versatile for many uses.

Obstacle Course at Carpenter Farms

CF Obstacle Course
Ground and in-saddle obstacles are central to our training system because they guide trainer and rider through a process of thinking and moving, in that order. Show us a horse that will not slow down and perhaps wants to get ahead in everything, and we will put him on the course and show you how to slow him down. The CF Obstacle Course, also known as Matt’s Maze, is where horses and trainers alike go to get their minds right.

Exerciser Carpenter Farms

The Gym – CF Exerciser
When not working on the farm or part of a daily training or trail ride our horses head to The Gym for their daily workout. A Free-Style “hot-walker” style exerciser sits steps away from the barns and is an essential piece of training and conditioning equipment for all of our horses. We believe if you want to know the true nature of a horse, try him out when he is well-fed, legged up and fit. We keep ours in top condition, train them in top condition so we can be absolutely sure our Lifetime Horses impress with perfect conduct in all situations, even when they are truly feeling their oats.

Trail System at Carpenter Farms

Trail System
Carpenter Farms is equipped with several miles of on and off-site trails with natural and man-made obstacles and water crossings designed to aid in creating a well-rounded horse. The trail systems are suitable for training, recreational and casual riding for beginners to experts.

Patience Pole at Carpenter Farms

Patience Stations
A wise trainer once said the definition of a patience for a horse is “waiting without worrying.” Carpenter Farms has four Patience Poles on the property that are used in various ways to address patience and, to some degree, buddy or barn-sour problems. While our entire training program is built on teaching patience, the Patience Poles provide a useful tool to advance that process.

Equipment Storage at Carpenter Farms

Equipment Storage

Take your choice. Our main equipment storage building is an open-air barn that is designed to convert to an outdoor venue in less than 30 minutes. Perfect for our equipment needs or a crawfish boil when the weather does not cooperate, this 3,000 square-foot venue doubles as a place where the projects start, stories get told or the catfish get fried.
